Schilling just can't shut up
God, I can't stand Curt Schilling.
In addition to the fact that he keeps showing up and beating my New York Yankees at the worst possible times (see the 2001 World Series and 2004 ALCS 'bloody sock' game), he's a loudmouth who loves nothing more than hearing himself talk.
And now Schilling is talking about the Yankees, seemingly trying to use them as leverage to get more money out of the Boston Red Sox when is contract expires at the end of this season.
This is what Schilling told the Boston Globe about the Yankees. I actually read these quotes in Pete Abraham's Lohud Yankees Blog.
“I’m probably one of the worst hated opposing players for their fans. I doubt they’d want me there. It’s got nothing to do with Brian Cashman. I love that guy. And I love Mr. Steinbrenner. But if I went to the Yankees, it would be me walking out of Boston and putting my finger up to the fans.“I won’t do it. And the dollar value will not tip the scales. If they gave me $25 million to pitch one season in Yankee Stadium, I’d still say no.”
Schilling is a blowhard. In reality, he doesn't give a damn about the Boston fans. He only gives a damn about squeezing a few more dollars out of the last years of his career.
What he's really saying to the Red Sox is 'I'll go to New York if you don't give me what I want.' You're foolish if you think he would turn down the Yankees if they paid him enough.
So, Curt, go talk to somebody who cares. Better yet, just shut up altogether.

I'm ready for Schilling and Clemens to hang it up. They've become phenomenal media whores in their old age.
